Abstract

Federico José Huaines introduce en Español y Magütá al abuelo Francisco Pinto. El abuelo narra en Magütá la historia de un jóven que, al bajar en canoa por el río Amazonas, escuchó música y creyó que era una fiesta. En realidad era la fiesta de la pava hedionda, donde vio muchas mujeres bonitas. Se quedó allí, pero al despertar estaba en el monte amarrado a un palo. Luego buscó su canoa y la encontró en el lugar donde la había arrimado. El abuelo aprendió este cuento cuando era joven, lo escuchó de los mestizos y así lo aprendió.

The elder narrates in Magütá the story of a young man who, while paddling down the Amazon River in a canoe, heard music and believed it was a party. In reality, it was the celebration of the pava hedionda (stinkbird), where he saw many beautiful women. He stayed there, but when he awoke, he found himself in the forest, tied to a pole. Later he searched for his canoe and found it where he had left it. The elder learned this story when he was young; he heard it from the mestizos and learned it that way.
