Abstract

Después de una breve introducción (por un abuelo anónimo), el abuelo Jorge Manduca relata la historia de Ngutapa. Comienza el relato con el castigo a Mapana, la venganza de ella y las picaduras de avispas en las rodillas de Ngutapa. Cuenta cómo de esas rodillas nacieron sus hijos y cómo un tigre se comió a Ngutapa mientras se bañaba. Los hijos salieron a buscar al tigre que devoró a su padre y Ngutapa revivió de la carne escupida. El abuelo continúa con el relato de las culebras, donde Ngutapa preguntaba a cada animal cuál era su curación. Finalmente, narra el origen de la Pelazón. The elder Jorge Manduca narrates the story of Ngutapa, beginning with the punishment of Mapana, her revenge, and the wasp stings on Ngutapa’s knees. He recounts how Ngutapa’s children were born from his knees and how a tiger devoured Ngutapa while he was bathing. The children went out to find the tiger that had eaten their father, and Ngutapa came back to life from the meat that had been spat out. The elder continues with the story of the snakes, where Ngutapa asked each animal what its healing method was. Finally, he narrates the origin of the Pelazón festival.
