Abstract

Javier Cayetano presenta en Español a las dos abuelas Teófila Bastos Pereira y Matilde Ahue Coello antes de cantar. Las abuelas interpretan en Magütá el canto de la taricaya, relacionado con el caparazón (de tortuga) que se utiliza durante la ceremonia de la Pelazón. En la canción se habla de la muchacha (worekü), del canto y el baile que se le realiza, de su clan, su nación, el nombre que se le ha otorgado y los consejos que se le brindan. Las abuelas utlizan el tambor durante su canto.

The elders perform in Magütá the taricaya song, related to the turtle shell used during the Pelazón ceremony. The song speaks about the young woman of the Pelazón (worekü), the song and dance performed for her, her clan, her nazón, the name that has been given to her, and the advice she receives. The elders use the drum during their performance.
