Abstract

Wanto del Águila explica en Español cómo se realiza la ronda-danza de la umisha (baile del asaí), donde la mujer toma el brazo derecho del hombre para bailar alrededor de la umisha. El hombre da el primer hachazo y la mujer el siguiente, y así sucesivamente. Quien logra derribar la umisha es el encargado de organizar el juego al año siguiente. Esta danza forma parte del carnaval y de las danzas típicas del trapecio amazónico, entre otros de los cocama. Oi wanto nü tü u türü iawe tümakümaarü, naega umisha. Wanto del Águila explains in Spanish how the umisha round-dance (the açaí dance) is performed, in which the woman takes the man’s right arm to dance around the umisha. The man delivers the first axe blow, and the woman the next, alternating in this way. The person who manages to bring down the umisha is responsible for organizing the game the following year. This dance is part of the carnival and the traditional dances of the Amazon Trapezium, among them those of the Cocama.
