El cocuyo que se transforma en marido

Abstract

Una mujer encuentra un escarabajo cocoyo y lo transforma en un hombre, que se convierte en el esposo ideal por la noche y vuelve a su forma de escarabajo durante el día. Los hombres celosos los espían y matan al escarabajo. Este cuento establece las relaciones adecuadas entre los esposos siona. El hombre caza y la mujer cocina. También son compañeros y realizan ciertas tareas juntos. Como parte del cortejo y de las relaciones matrimoniales, el esposo/novio cuenta historias divertidas para hacer reír a la mujer.

A woman finds a cocoyo beetle and transforms it into a man, who becomes the ideal husband at night and returns to his bettle form during the day. Jealous men spy on them and kill the beetle. This tale establishes the proper relations between Siona spouses. The man hunts and the women cooks. They are also companions, doing certain tasks together. As part of courtship and of marital relations, the husband/boyfriend tells funny stories to make the woman laugh.
