Abstract

El abuelo Jorge Manduca narra la historia de lo ocurrido después del incendio. Tras este, llegó el diluvio universal (Muku). La creciente era caliente y los animales morían a causa del calor. Cuando el diluvio terminó, los animales quedaron a salvo. Entonces la gente comenzó a sembrar maíz, sandía, yuca, plátano y otras semillas. Lo que germinó primero fueron las plantas para el sustento como la mullaca (kamaku ira). Todo sucedió como castigo de Dios (Ngutapa). Cuando ya todo estaba listo para la cosecha, Ngutapa les advirtió: “Ya están grandes, ahora ustedes deben preparar la gran fiesta de la semana, cuando el río quede quieto y empiece la sequía”. Elder Jorge Manduca narrates the story of what happened after the fire. Following it, the universal flood (Muku) arrived. The rising waters were hot, and the animals died because of the heat. When the flood ended, the animals were safe. Then, people began planting maize, watermelon, cassava, banana, and other seeds. The first to sprout were the plants for sustenance, such as mullaca (kamaku ira). All of this occurred as a punishment from God (Ngutapa). When everything was ready for the harvest, Ngutapa warned them: “They are now grown; you must prepare the great festival of the week, when the river calms and the dry season begins.”
